This week a Wonder Woman quote helps us celebrate Women’s Equality Day and reminds us to be kind to everyone. A great way to commemorate the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment is to verify your voter registration status so that we may all exercise our constitutional rights.

We should have grabbed a copy of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (and a towel!) and hitched a lift on a mission to Mars to escape this virus! Failing that, according to Ford Prefect, ‘Time is an illusion’. Perhaps we’ll all wake up, and it never happened!

This week we’re celebrating the birth of ‘The Master of Suspense’, Alfred Hitchcock and the upcoming 60th anniversary of his masterpiece PSYCHO. We agree with Sir Alfred that ‘The length of the film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder’!

We remember Marilyn Monroe who died this week in 1962 and the invention of champagne which was apparently this week in 1693! Marilyn loved champagne and would have agreed with Perignon’s cry ‘Come quickly, I’m tasting the stars!’ We hope we’ll see stars on The Rialto screen soon!

‘Sssshhh … be vewy vewy quiet …’ Bugs Bunny is 80 today! His official debut was in an 8 minute animated comedy short called A WILD HARE which was an instant hit. The Historic Rialto Theatre is nearly as old – it started life as a movie theatre 78 years ago! That’s all folks!

Celebrating Robin Williams birthday this week. Our marquee is his plea, as the Genie, to be released from the magic lamp in the movie Aladdin. In Williams’ own words ‘You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.’ Stay safe but don’t lose your spark!

In honor of Harrison Ford’s birthday, our marquee is a Dr Indiana Jones quote, which seems appropriate to all scientists! Why not enjoy a Harrison Ford marathon this week and remember ‘It’s not the years honey. It’s the mileage’. Let’s hope we’ve all got many miles left!

Happy July 4th! Our marquee this week quotes Lead Scientist Dr Okun, who spends his time locked away with an alien, in the movie Independence Day. Sound familiar to anyone? In the words of President Whitmore ‘We’re going to survive’!

We guess we’re not boldly going anywhere at the moment, but Mr Spock’s advice ‘The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few’ certainly rings true and matches our state directive to wear masks. Everyone at The Historic Rialto hopes you ‘Live Long and Prosper’!
