WE’RE BACK – YIPPEE!!

28 Sep – RIP Notorious RBG
America lost an icon this week with the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. When asked how she’d like to be remembered she said “… as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability”. There’s no doubt she achieved her goal. Rest in Peace RBG.
21 Sep – Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold.
Today The Historic Rialto celebrates ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’ with Capt Jack Sparrow! We think good health is a treasure these days, but silver & gold helps! Enjoy a pirate joke: “How much does it cost for a pirate to get his ears pierced? A buccaneer!” .. We didn’t say a good joke!
14 Sep – Governor Please Give Us An Audience
“When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do? Just keep swimming.” That’s what we’re doing at The Rialto! We really appreciate the Governor working hard to keep North Carolinians safe, but feel a bit neglected in the recent openings, so we ask, please give us an audience!
07 Sep – As You Wish
The Historic Rialto celebrates one of it’s favorite movies this week – The Princess Bride. It’s very fitting that our hero wore a mask. When asked ‘why’ his response was ‘that they’re terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future’ – if only he knew!
31 Aug – No Close Encounters of Any Kind
We’re hanging in there and refraining from any Close Encounters, to bring that curve down and to bring you back into our theatre! Thanks to everyone for your support and donations to the Historic Rialto. It reminds us that ‘We are not alone’ – in fact we’re all in this together!
Aug 24 – Only Love Can Save The World
This week a Wonder Woman quote helps us celebrate Women’s Equality Day and reminds us to be kind to everyone. A great way to commemorate the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment is to verify your voter registration status so that we may all exercise our constitutional rights.
Aug 17 – Don’t Panic!
We should have grabbed a copy of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (and a towel!) and hitched a lift on a mission to Mars to escape this virus! Failing that, according to Ford Prefect, ‘Time is an illusion’. Perhaps we’ll all wake up, and it never happened!
Aug 10 – We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes
This week we’re celebrating the birth of ‘The Master of Suspense’, Alfred Hitchcock and the upcoming 60th anniversary of his masterpiece PSYCHO. We agree with Sir Alfred that ‘The length of the film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder’!
Aug 03 – I’ll Have A Glass Of That
We remember Marilyn Monroe who died this week in 1962 and the invention of champagne which was apparently this week in 1693! Marilyn loved champagne and would have agreed with Perignon’s cry ‘Come quickly, I’m tasting the stars!’ We hope we’ll see stars on The Rialto screen soon!
